Hike Maui

Hike Maui was definitely our favorite excursion in Hawaii. The hike was led by a naturalist and involved all of our senses. The group was limited to twelve people so we each had attention from the guide. First we were given special shoes to wear as we would be hiking through water and climbing slippery rocks. Our destination was to get to a couple of waterfalls where we could swim in the pool but the hike was half the fun.

Our naturalist guide stopped when he saw animals and picked them up for us to get a closer look. He also explained the different plants to us, going as far as cutting fruit for us to taste!

We hiked through the ditches or canals built to irrigate the sugarcane plantations. The last plantation was closed in 2016.

We finally reached our destination. The first waterfall with a pool where we could swim. I will admit, the falls and water were ice cold.

Walking in the pool to meet my hubby on the rock.

We did stop and enjoy our boxed lunch in a grotto next to another waterfall and pool. Some people were swinging on the vines and jumping into the pool.

Parts of the hike involved climbing slippery rocks where we had to use vines and holes in the rock to climb. Fortunately our guide was very helpful.

After lunch we hiked through more water in other irrigation ditches.

Definitely needed those special no slip shoes

This was definitely our favorite hike and we enjoyed being able to see, touch, smell, hear, and taste the products of the Hawaiian forest. I definitely recommend this tour if you find yourself in Maui!
